Humanising Systems Championing Inclusion
Welcome to the inaugural edition of the Voicing Voices bi-weekly newsletter. We are dedicating this first issue to introducing ourselves and the values that guide our work and shape every aspect of our programme.
Who We Are
Voicing Voices is an educational and capacity-building platform that transforms lived experience into leadership, agency, and meaningful change. Leadership is shaped not only through education and opportunity, but also through trust, communication, identity, and the relationships that help young people understand who they are and what they can contribute to the world. Through Our Mothers' Eyes was created to strengthen these foundations through meaningful intergenerational dialogue between mothers and daughters.
The Core Pillars That Guide Our Mission
At Voicing Voices, our values are more than guiding principles—they are the foundation of every conversation, activity, and relationship we build. They shape how we engage with participants, how we design our programmes, and how we honour the stories entrusted to us.
Amanah (Trust)
Trust is at the heart of meaningful dialogue. We recognise that the experiences shared between mothers and daughters are deeply personal and often vulnerable. Amanah reminds us to carry these stories with care, confidentiality, and responsibility. By creating safe and respectful spaces, we enable participants to speak honestly, listen openly, and build stronger relationships with one another.
Rahmah (Compassion)
Families today navigate complex questions around identity, faith, ambition, belonging, and the pressures of modern life. Rahmah guides us to approach every participant with empathy, patience, and understanding. Rather than creating environments of judgement or expectation, we strive to cultivate spaces where individuals feel seen, heard, and supported as they learn and grow together.
Shura (Consultation and Co-Creation)
We believe meaningful leadership is built through collaboration. Shura encourages us to listen actively to the voices of participants and communities, recognising that those closest to a challenge often hold the most valuable insights. Rather than imposing solutions, we work alongside families to shape learning experiences that reflect their realities, needs, and aspirations.
Adl (Integrity and Accountability)
Intergenerational dialogue flourishes when every voice is treated with dignity and respect. Adl calls us to uphold fairness, honour different perspectives, and ensure that both youth leadership and parental wisdom are valued equally. It also reminds us to remain accountable in our actions, decisions, and commitments to the communities we serve.
Ihsan (Excellence)
Excellence is not simply about achieving high standards; it is about pursuing meaningful impact with sincerity and purpose. Ihsan inspires us to continuously improve, deliver quality experiences, and create opportunities that leave a lasting positive effect on individuals, families, and communities. It challenges us to approach every aspect of our work with intention, care, and a commitment to doing our best.
Together, these five values form the foundation of all our work.
They guide how we learn, how we lead, and how we build a community rooted in trust, compassion, collaboration, integrity, and excellence.
